Kyriarchy is a term that describes intersecting structures of oppression. The word is derived from the Greek words for "lord" or "master" (kyrios) and "to rule or dominate" (archein), and defines a system of "ruling and oppression" in which many people may interact and act as oppressor or oppressed.
In short, we're talking about intersectionality here. Most spaces tend to focus on one particular oppression, i.e. gender OR race, while here we talk about privilege, power and dominion from multiple angles.
1. Stay on-topic when making a post. This doesn't apply to comments. Analysis often crosses over into other issues because there are similarities between gender issues and other types of issues. Any of the issues typically discussed within feminism, including these crossover issues, are considered on topic. This is includes discussions about racial minorities, disabilities, sexuality, mental illness and more. 2. Do not delete posts nor comments, EVEN YOUR OWN. The only exception is if you posted here by mistake. There is also another exception for post deletion if you accidentally make a poll incorrectly and want to re-post, but it only applies if no one has commented yet. If you ask a moderator to delete a post or comment that you feel is too intensely personal, they MIGHT delete it for you, but you are not allowed to delete it yourself. Examples of overly personal things include information about traumatic events, medical/mental illness, etc. 3. Don't do anything technically disruptive (i.e. using computer/technical methods for malfeasance). This includes, but is not limited to: causing people's web browsers to malfunction, flooding the community with numerous consecutive posts, including gigantic text/images, etc... 4. Don't violate the LJ ToS and/or U.S. law. This means that you can't incite people to post (trolling, flaming or otherwise) in someone else's journal. It's ok to link to communities. If you link to a personal journal or open membership community where there is high "harassment potential," it's requested (but not required) to add a notice saying it is against the community rules to comment in that post in a negative fashion. If you want to comment negatively, comment in our threads, not the other journal's. This is done to prevent the community from getting suspended under LJ's ToS. 5. No spam. This includes both commercial and non-commercial advertisements (e.g. requests to visit your website, to join some political protest, etc...). You may advertise communities and websites (political or otherwise) if they are directly relevant to kyriarchy. 6. Do not screen comments, freeze threads, nor disable comments. 7. Use lj-cut when appropriate. 8. Do not post any graphic or otherwise non-work-safe images, unless they are behind a cut with a warning. 9. Don't make more than 2 posts within a 24 hour period of time. 10. Absolutely do not do anything negative that crosses over into a user's real life, including, but not limited to, harassment, threats, and hacking. 11. PLEASE SOURCE YOUR ARTICLES.
